Rooo~~~~

My friend's dog Roo (maltese) has a strange habit of singing along to alarm clock tunes...

Don't know why she started it, but it's too cute.

Is it my DAD or...?

or does my brother's pre-cut hair-style look like Javier Bardem in No Country for Old Men?

hahahahahaha.

This wasn't even ME! this was my DAD!!
hahahaha.

Like father, like daughter!

I can't help but think...

That Lady Gaga's song Poker Face is a tribute song for her parents....

First of all, the song starts:

Mama Mama~♪
Mama Mama~♪
Mama Mama~♪

SERIOUSLY! just go listen to it on youtube or something.

and THEN in the chorus, she sings.

Can't read my, Can't read my
No he can't read my poker face~♪

Alice by Pogo

You MUST MUST MUST watch this video.
Song called Alice by Pogo.

It's even free for download on last.fm/music/Pogo

I've already downloaded all his songs, cuz they're just that amazing.

The song feels like a massage for your brain, and the video feels like Red Bull for your eyes!

R.I.P. Puss.

My roommate's beloved cat, Puss, passed away on January 27th :'( He was about 17 years old.
He was doing fine when I left, but suddenly got a tumor in his mouth. His teeth were falling out, he couldn't eat, and the Vet said he was definitely in pain, so my roommate decided it was time for him to rest :( (I get so teary thinking of it...) I couldn't say goodbye, but I would rather not have him suffer.

To be honest, I'm more of a dog person.
But this cat was different. He was special.
He was the cutest, most adorable cat ever.
He had flaws, like major shedding, puking, peeing, pooing, and smelling... haha.

But all of them were forgivable cuz when he looked up at you with his marble eyes, he would do what "Puss in Boots" did in Shrek when looking up at the soldiers.
He had the cutest face ever.

He will definitely be missed :(

He's in a can now, but I know he's still with us.
When I hear scratching in the hallway, I still think it's him.
When I come home, the first thing I think is "let me feed you something...",
When I'm walking through the hallway when there's no lights, I still walk carefully to avoid kicking him or step on his tail(he would wait outside our doors).

He's in my brain. Just the way amputees still feel their arm/leg even after they've been amputated. It's a trick of the brain, I know, but I still feel puss. He's lodged in my cerebral somewhere.... and I plan on keeping him there :)

Rest In Peace Puss. I hope you're not in pain anymore... We all love you!

Is it just me.... Spencer and...

Who thinks
Spencer from 'The Hills' (left) and Ryan Tedder (vocal from One Republic)(right)
look alike?

anyone else??

Is it just me... Chingy and...

Who thinks Chingy (left) and T.I. (right) look SUPER DUPER WOOOOOPER alike?
(maybe not so much in these pictures though....)

When T.I. first came out, I totally thought it was Chingy!!
But whether they look alike or not, they're both super hot! (rare find in rapper world)
...and where did Chingy go?

I LOVE IT!

When ppl say "There's two kinds of ppl in this world"

I think, what they're REALLY saying is...

"there's me, and there's everyone else."

Is it just me? ...Jeffery Dean Morgan and...

Jeffrey Dean Morgan (patient in Grey's Anatomy that Izzie falls for... but dies in the end :( and father in Supernatural) and the Spanish actor Javier Bardem (ex: Vicky Christina Barcelona and Academy Award winner for Best Supporting Actor in 'No Country For Old Men') look SUPER alike? like SUPER DUPER WOOPER alike!!

and a side of Robert Downey Jr... like a younger version <3

I think Jefferey Dean Morgan and Javier Bardem can DOUBLE for each other!!
Anyone else think they look alike?

PS- this note is full of HOT.

Eggplant Trivia!

I just learned a few new things today about EGGPLANTS... or for some of you, Aubergines.

Yah, random, I know. but are you surprised? I hope not. I'm Queen of Random... ok, maybe not Queen... princess?? or... maybe 4th in line to the throne... cousin to the Queen of Random. whatever. you get the idea. I digress... so these are a few interesting things I found out about eggplants. Seriously, they're interesting...:

1) Botanically, eggplants are BERRIES! If you think about it, it's a big DUH, but... still... it feels weird. In my dictionary, berries have to be round, juicy and sweet!

2) Eggplants belong to the same family as Potatoes and Tomatoes!
then why didn't they keep rhyming? like Motatoes?

3) Eggplants can cause or worsen arthritis! WHAT? they're THAT powerful?! They look, taste, and feel like an empty bag of air to me! (I love them though!)

4) Eggplants can cause gastritis (iritating gastric lining) for some ppl! wow wow wow, I'm starting to get scared of eggplants!

5) BUT they can lower blood pressure.... phew, atleast they're good for SOMETHING right?

And one of my favorite tid-bits....
6) Eggplants are richest in NICOTINE compared to any other (edible) plant! On average, 9kg (20lbs) of eggplant contains about the same amount of nicotine as a cigarette. -wikipedia
I bet you had NO IDEA!!! crazy, huh?
"I'm gonna go take an eggplant break. Be right back."

and last but not least:
7) Have you ever wondered why they're called EGGplants when they don't look like eggs at all? cuz I did! Where I~ come from, all eggplants are PURPLE and I've never seen purple eggs... except during Easter... and we don't do Easter eggs in Japan! But, I found that eggplants were originally white! I had NO IDEA! I've never seen white eggplants! So here's a generous photo for those of you in the same situation:

"The name eggplant developed in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada because the fruits of some 18th century European cultivars were yellow or white and resembled goose or hen's eggs." -wikipedia, obviously

Crazy! I had no idea Eggplants come in white!

So that's it. I have a new look on eggplants now. More respect. I love eggplants but I totally thought they're full of nothing when it came to nutrition and health. Sorry eggplants. I still love you!

BUT I still think eggplants are funny. Whenever a foreign person who thinks they're being sexy, funny and flirty comes up to me and asks "So, how do I tell a Japanese girl "hey there sexy" in Japanese? ;)" I teach AND CONVINCE them to go find a Japanese person to say "You look like an eggplant" in Japanese...

So, take home message for today:

Eggplants are great fun.... except if you have arthritis and try to flirt with Japanese girls.

Worst. Movie. Ever. Full. Stop.

I'm no movie critic. But I love movies and I rarely hate a movie I just watched... but unfortunately, I occasionally run into some really bad movies.... and I'm sure you've had that terrible experience too... So you thought, or atleast *I* thought, I'd seen all the worst movies out there...

Crazy Beautiful (Kirsten Dunst REBELLING and dating a Papi-Chulo, oh the controversy!)
Gigli (J-lo and Ben Affleck movie, where J-Lo is a lesbian... .... .... ......)
Glitter (the Mariah Carey movie... 'nuff said)
Crossroads (Britney's movie... also, 'nuff said)
Love and Basketball (actually this is a few ppl's FAVORITE movie.... crazy)
Juon series (the Japanese originals of 'The Grudge')

..........just to name a few.

but I just watched the most HORRENDOUS movie of all. time. OF. ALL. TIME.

I just watched... are you ready for this? "From Justin to Kelly."

A romantic (?) musical with Kelly Clarkson and this Justin-dude from American Idol (runner up from the same season?) set in Spring-Break Miami.... I don't think the title even makes sense. It should atleast be called "A Justin to Kelly" ('adjusting to kelly'... get it? hahaha. I'm so lame, but I crack myself up! haha.)

Now, I absolutely luuuurv Musicals, and that's why I watched it... BUT, it is the WORST. MOVIE. EVER! WOOOORST MOVIEEE EVER!

OMG, I don't even know where to begin, so I won't- everything just SUCKED.
(I'll tell you in person cuz if I start typing, it's gonna get too long, but I have to get it off my chest!)

I thought crappy movies were EXTINCT! I mean, making a movie that sucks THIS BAD must be difficult! It's like when a good singer is really bad at imitating terrible singers. I didn't know this was possible! I'm no Roger Ebert, but this movie needs all the thumbs I can have ALL THE WAY DOWN! That means more than 12 billion thumbs, I tell yah.

And the funny thing is, I just googled "worst movie ever". A wikipedia page came up with a "list of films considered the worst" and LOOOO and BEHOLD, this movie was in it! I had to laugh and pat myself on the back. hahaha

But the crazy thing is, you can't stop watching it! You actually want them to DISPROVE you!
You actually HOPE (maybe I'm just a doomed optimist) that there will be ONE saving scene.

It's like when you take a bite of bad tasting food and tell someone "OMG This is so gross! YOU HAVE TO TRY IT!...." then you take another bite, so does your friend... until you finish it. haha.

that's EXACTLY how it was. I watched the whole, entire, movie! Shame shame shame.

I can't believe I thought GIGLI was bad... compared to this movie, J-Lo needs to win something... a Canne Film Festival Award. It was the most terrible, excruciating, horrible, failed, bad, awful, atrocious, painful, crappy, sucky, shitty, WORST MOVIE EVER!

so.....

YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT!
hahahaha
(if you have the time to read this, honey, you have the time to watch this movie)
does anyone else feel my pain?

Is it just me? ... Ali Larter and...

Do Ali Larter (she's in Heroes, Final Destination 1 and 2) and Tara Conner (former Miss USA- famous for drug/alcohol addiction?) look alike?

I saw the Tara person on the MTV show Pageant Place, and I thought she looked like the actress in Final Destination...

anybody?

PS- I can tell two white ppl apart, thank you very much! (hahaha)

Is it still just me??? Kim Kardashian...

Who thinks Kim Kardashian (who is she? what's she famous for anyway?) and Nicole Scherwawazinga (I can never remember her last name) from the Pussy Cat Dolls look alike.

And their boobs probably look even MORE similar on the inside......... as in plastic...

...I just wikipedia-d Kim Kardashian... she's just a rich lawyers (eg. OJ's trial) daughter.... and we share the same birthday.....
I guess we have more in common than just stunningly good looks :P hahaha, jk... ;)

Is it just me or does Falcor and...

Is it just me? or does Falcor (dragon/dog from "The Never Ending Story") and Michael Jackson's NOSE look exactly the same?

PS- man, I LOVE the Never Ending Story series nanana~nanana~ nanana~

Is it just me? Katty Perry and...

Don't Katy Perry and Zoey Deschanel (she was in Elf and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy) look alike?

...and did you know that Zoey Deschanel is sisters with the actress who plays BONES?

I didn't!

And I think the actress who plays Bones looks like Rory from Gilmore Girls.... anyone??

and is it just me, or am I WAAAAY too bored? hahaha

I am happily married...

Last night, I had a very strange dream... I was at a wedding... nothing strange there... but the thing is, it was my OWN wedding... I was wearing a wedding dress, which I didn't love or hate, my entire family was there, and I think all the guests were waiting for me in the church for me to walk down the isle... and so you may think, who was the (lucky) guy? *nudge nudge* wink wink* (or maybe you don't, whatever) And this is where the dream starts turning strange...
I HAD NO IDEA WHO I WAS GETTING MARRIED TO! (hahaha)

I wasn't panicking, or stressed, or rushed, or scared, or anything. Just calm, neutral and normal. ( I know I'm not gonna be a bride-zilla anyway.)

I was just like "let's get this over with, meh" as I slooowly tried on my veil, started doing my hair (while everyone's waiting) and thought to myself "man, that guy is probably thinking I'm gonna bail... meh whatevs!" my family was there with me, but they also didn't seem to care...

Then as I was ABOUT to open the door with my dad to walk down the isle, I was woken up by a phone call.... end of dream. we'll never know who the groom was.

So today, I was talking to my roommate and she brought up the topic of strange dreams.... so I mentioned mine, and I asked "I wonder what this husband-less marriage dream means..."

She answered with no hesitation what-so-ever as though it was the most obvious answer in the world...

"Elisa, you're happily married to yourself"

...bingo.

(circa 2006. Jen made me do it!)

With All Due Respect...

There's a house on my way to school that always likes to decorate its windows according to the season/festival/etc... When it's Christmas, you have the trees, bells, snow, Jesus, etc... when it's Holland's national Holiday, it's all Orange etc etc etc...

And the past month (or thereabouts) it's been decorated for the Olympics...
He's got medals (maybe they're just chocolate, who knows) hanging, and random chinese cloths decorating his window... BUT! Among them... I found Tempura-ko (Flour to make Tempura) and Asahi-Nama-Beer with chopsticks that say "Otemoto" on them..... which are Japanese....

With all due respect sir... (cuz I actually like to see those windows)
JAPAN IS NOT PART OF CHINA, AND NOT ALL OF ASIA IS CHINA!

please do your research?

I'm SO tempted to leave him a post-it on the window...

phew, had to get that out.

Colors of Morocco.

There's a picture in our house of my parents on their 10th anniversary trip to Morocco. They're having tea Moroccan style, and even holding a Moroccan guitar-like instrument.
It's an infamous photo in our family, so I've always wanted to go there- as long as I can remember. So when I was told I was going, MY GAWD I was jumping up and down. First time in AFRICAAA~~~ It was nothing like any other place I had ever visited. Unfortunately, we didn't get to go to Casa Blanca or Marrakech. We visited the northern tip of Morocco: Tangier. We just took a ferry-boat from Spain! It's so close!!

First night there, WE SAW CAMELS!!!

We didn't ride them :( but I was so excited just to SEE THEM! woo hoo!! hahaha.
It was funny, cuz I think we were the only ASIANS there! (Even if we were half.) People kept staring at us! I think it was a combo of "omg! look at those girls! not wearing enough clothes.." and "hold on... I think they're Asian!" haha.

The next day, we went on a tour to visit a village in the mountains called Chouen.

We obviously orderded Couscous and kebabs.

And TAGINES! pure delish!

FEAAAAST!!!!

So this is the entrance to the city of Chouen. (pronounced "shau-en"... I think.)

It's such a little entrance, but once you go inside, it's like a maize. And it's so pretty inside!

To the left, we have our tour-guide Achmed! I think he's a local celebrity, cuz everyone kept saying hi to him, and he told us he was on the Lonely Planet, as Chouen's guide! The first things he said to us were "I speak English." with SUCH a crackled voice, and this lady was screaming through the streets calling for someone...at first, we all thought "oh oh~~~ we are going to experience some craziness here!" but he was SUCH a great guy, and a memorable character. He will forever be engrained in my brain.

So Chouen is famous for painting their walls blue. It was SCORCHING HOT, but these blue walls kept the narrow streets feeling really cool... and apparently they keep mosquitos away too!! There were so many tones of blue and turquoise, I loved it!

Achmed telling us something interesting, I'm sure. This place was such a maize I think it's impossible to get around without a tour-guide. And he was the best of the best!

This is a type of carpet they make. Apparently there are male and female designs. This one was my favorite (I think it's a male design).

I love random dangling souvenirs! keychains, necklaces, good luck charms, wallets.... love em.

DYE! Achmed told us that the blue is obviously used for the walls- they have to paint it pretty often cuz it comes off... And as for the rest, I think it's for clothes, or the thread/yarn they use to make those carpets.

So much COLOR in this city!

This is Chouen!

On the drive back to Tangier, we kept seeing these pottery stores by the street. They sold tagine pots, incense holders, vases, plates, cups... all in different colors! It was so cute.

We stopped by one of them to take a look.
I loved the brown vases on the right. I wanted one, but there was no way I could bring it back with me :(

Aren't these SOOO BEAUTIFUL? I was going crazy with my camera, trying to get every color, every vase, every plate, every light! I couldn't bring one home with me, but atleast I can relive the moment in these photos :)

Last day there, we went to a city called Assilah.
They also had blue walls like Chouen.

The left, is a grave. I think the tiled plates represent each person's grave. I thought it was so simple and so nice! On the right is some art-work on the walls of Assilah. Every year, they have an international art festival, where artists from all over the planet come and pain walls. This one was my favorite. We also met a Japanese painter there!

Just some random hats hangin'. Just thought it was pretty cute :)

These shells were being sold by local teenagers. They had drawings of hearts or flowers, and they would write your name in Arabic! We all bought one for ourselves, and bought them as souvenirs for friends too! Aren't they cute? (We had to have them write which one was which name, cuz none of us could read Arabic! hahaha) I found the donkey in the market, which was almost like the scene from Aladdin. Too bad we couldn't go to Marrakech, cuz I hear THATS where you get a real taste of "arabian ni~~~ghts" but the market at Assilah also had that feel to it!

All in all, I couldn't believe I had SET FOOT in Africa! woah woah! I mean, I know Morocco is a little different from the rest of Africa, but still. I PLANTED MY FOOT in that continent! Next time, I am definitely gonna check out Casa Blanca and Marrakech... as well as other African countries!

I CAN'T WAIT!
