Can I just tell you the my dog is the CUTEST, smartest dog on this planet?
I don't care if your dog can say "I love my momma" in five languages, Luna beats them all!
And below is her youtube debut video of her nodding when asked "do you want this treat?" and saying that's she shy. *blushes* I'm such a proud parent! hahaha
She is too cute, I tell you, too full of cute.

My youtube debut....
So I went to the Uffie concert in Doornrosje (Nijmegen, The Netherlands)
If you don't know her, check out her myspace page here.
And this is how the story goes....
Towards the end of her show, Uffie called us (the audience) to get up on stage. Being the Elisa that I am, I HAD TO get up there.... then, there was another stage on top of the stage...
Let me just tell you, that I was NOT drunk, but my decision to get up on that second stage may have come from a bad place, haha.
Anyway, the second I get up there, a girl behind me PUSHES ME HARD!
SLAM! I go down alll the way into the audience, but nope, no crowd surfing what so ever! hahaha.
Anyway, I leave with my roommate who is embarassed (me, on the other hand thinks this is hilarious!)
Few days later, my roommate's boyfriend sends us a link to a youtube video called:
"LOL this girl just fell from stage when Uffie preformed" (posted by a stranger!)
so there you have it, friends. I was videotaped by a stranger, and the video has gone on youtube for your viewing pleasure :) hahahahaha.
and you can laugh WITH me... ;)

Murphy's Law
I (finally) bought a chain for my bike cuz it was on Sale...
Then I went to fill my tires cuz it was getting a wee bit deflated.
I was excited to ride my newly inflated, no longer chainless bike.
NEXT DAY, my tires broke.
I HATE MURPHY!

I never thought I'd say this but...
I support the troops.
And that's not the same as supporting the war.
To me, it's the complete opposite.

Pictures from my trip to Hawaii... I love Hawaii so much, it's crazy.

The sunset. THE SUNSET! makes me sigh just looking at it... It almost looks like a Christian Lassen painting... just in REAL LIFE. *sighs*

At the W Hotel. I loooove how colorful we are!

Yeah, we went banana boating. But this is what ppl who underestimate banana boats look like!

Cuz soon enough, one of you will be kicked off, and you will ALL be SCREAMING!
(by the way, this is my favorite shot from the entire trip! hilarious kodak moment, and I had SO MUCH FUN on that thing!)

This is my favorite part of the drive up to Sandy's Beach... right about past Hanauma Bay... When you look to your right and you see CLEAR BLUE ocean against a DARK BLACK volcanic cliff.... ahhh~ I go driving there once in a while in my head... <3

And we saw a WHALE! I think it was a mom-calf pair, cuz there were definitely two!
(My volunteer work for the Whale Sanctuary count came in handy cuz I noticed! hehe :P) This is one of the many reasons I wanna live in Hawaii- you're right by marine life. And not just algae and nearly dead fish (like in Tokyo) but HUGE, MYSTERIOUS creatures like whales, dolphins, turtles, seals... sigh~~~ I know I wanna go back to study there~~
All in all, great trip, great ppl, great food, great place, great climate.
Pure Great.

Colbie Caillat has a boyfriend with smelly feet.
Ok, so I'm SURE everybody's heard Colbie Caillat's song "Bubbly"
I mean, it's on the radio every 10 minutes! and on MTV, and in the stores, and in the elevator, and random ppl are humming it EVERYWHERE YOU GO.
I like the song, but it's just overplayed....
ANYWAY, I think the lyrics are cute and all... but I just can't help but think the lyrics are about a BF with smelly feet.... I'm being serious here. don't laugh.
So here you go, the part of the lyrics I'm talking about... just see for yourself!
it starts in my toes (the stench)
and I crinkle my nose (because it SMELLS BAD)
where ever it goes I always know (the smell just follows you around)
that you make me smile (nervously)
please stay for a while now (It should be "please stay AWAY for a while now)
just take your time (and wash your feet?)
where ever you go
What am I gonna say (it'S hard to tell someone "your feet stink")
when you make me feel this way (uncomfortable?)
I just........mmmmmm (become speechless!)
and she repeats:
It starts in my toes
make me crinkle my nose
where ever it goes
i always know
that you make me smile
please stay for a while now
just take your time
where ever you go
Or is this all JUST me?

I live in a Town made of Cookies!
The little town I live in, called Leiden (in the Netherlands) is so freakin' adorable and cute, it looks like it's made of cookies. When it snowed, it looked like sugar-powder-covered-cookies! If you can imagine "Diagon Alley" from Harry Potter, that's exactly it. OR if you can imagine Belle from Beauty and the Beast singing "little town~ it's a quiet village~ waking up~ to~ say~" and instead of bonjour, they say LEKKER (means yummy)! That's the kind of little cute town I live in.

I guess you could call this "my hood".

Isn't this beautiful? It's 2 minutes from my house!

The hallway of my apartment is *literally* Kermit Green! He's even hanging there to prove it! hehehe.

this is my flatmate's (as they say here) cat, Puss... he's 17 years old!

this is how crowded the Saturday Markets get! but it's a lot of fun, with vegies, fruits, cheeses, olives, fishes, more fishes, flowers, everything!

see? colorful fruits!

it says "Elisa erg lekker" which means "Elisa: so yummy" They know it!

Eating my first raw herring!! Yes, that's how you eat it! And that's the Leiden flag behind me :)

book maket! I love how it's displayed.

There was an art project in front of my house, and this is how it was lit up!

Do you see how the painter is on a BOAT on the canal? I think it took all day, but we were at IKEA buying some furniture, hehehe. But when I came home to this, I was blown away!

The painting and the reflection on the canal. No editing what-so-ever! I think I can even flip this photo up-side-down and it'll still look as good! Seriously, I wish you were here to see it!

From another angle~~

I think this might actually be in Amsterdam... but I like how the city Christmas Season illumination looked! Doesn't it look like I'm time traveling or warping into the light?

this is our City Hall... isn't it lovely? It's really pretty at night when the city hall is lit up. I went inside once to register as a student, and the interior was also ridiculously beautiful!

And then.... IT STARTED TO SNOW!!!!

this is my way to the supermarket. Can you believe I live in this picturesque world? Sometimes even *I* still can't....

This is the "burcht" a man-made hill in Leiden. You can overlook Leiden from here, and you can even see my apartment! hehe :P

Shhhh, I paparazzi-ed a kid playing in the snow!

Like I said, the beautiful view from the Burcht! This is the HooglandseKerk. (kerk means church) If I remember correctly, when they were building this church, they were trying to make the largest Cathedral in Holland, but I think another church in Amsterdam won! Nice try though, Leiden. It's still beautiful.

This is inside the Burcht. You can walk upstairs and around the wall... Lookin' pretty in the snow :)

Doesn't this dandy man make this such a cool framed shot? me likes :D

Snow snow snow snow SNOOOOW!!!

This is the entrance to the Burcht with the Leiden emblem in the middle (the two keys)

Snow-covered leaves.

Leiden, at night, illuminated.

Don't the trees look like fireworks going off at the same time? I could sit there all day staring, if it weren't FREEZING cold!!

I think this could be a Christmas Card... or am I giving myself too much credit? hehehe :P

Prayer for LL Cool J.
First, I must admit I like LL COOL J.
(He rhymes "paradise" and "very nice" for goodness sakes! That's AWESOME! Nobody can pull that one off except for him.)
But my note today isn't about how great/awful he is as an artist/rapper/idiot/steroid junkie or whatever you consider him to be.
It seems that society has come to accept the fact that this guy, born James Todd Smith (yes, I googled it), is called LL COOL J by the masses.
Do you know what it stands for? the LL?
The LL stands for Ladies Love....and ofcourse, the J that follows is for James.
( maybe you've seen it on MTV or E! or VH1's documentary type shows)
so this man, James Todd Smith, wants people to call him "Ladies Love Cool James"
Is it just ME that thinks it's RIDICULOUS???
and thinks it's even MORE ridiculous that nobody takes notice of it anymore??
Therefore, I just want to take a minute to appreciate and simmer in the ridiculous-ness of this name that has recently gone unnoticed. Amen.

35 million people!
The past couple of weeks, since I moved to Holland, whenever I tell people "I'm from Tokyo" it seems as though everyone wants to know the population of Tokyo...
So I googled it (typical me thing to do).
I found out that there are 35,000,000 people!(三千五百万!)
THIRTY FIVE MILLION!!
people living within the "Greater Tokyo Area" (aka- Tokyo Metropolis. which includes Tokyo, Yokohama, Kawasaki... )
The Netherlands, on the other hand, has 16.5 million TOTAL and is about three times as big as the "Greater Tokyo Area" Which leads me to the conclusion, yet again, that: Tokyo is CRAZY!
No wonder there's a new reality show in Holland called "Lost in Tokyo" where contestants are lost (obviously) in Tokyo, and have to tackle Tokyo pop culture. Last week, contestants struggled to understand "maid cafes" and "kosu pure" (costume play.) This week, it's about Japanese comedy... I already saw the commercial, and I saw Hard-Gay (a crazy Japanese comedian who dresses up in S&M clothes)... I'm SO afraid of all the questions Japanese people are gonna have to endure here "is it really like that in Tokyo? do they drive fast and furiously? (from that movie) do comedians dress up in S&M costumes? are girls sent to kyoto to become geishas?" I bet sooner or later, somewhere in the world, stupid shows will start mentioning that it's typical to eat sushi off naked women for business meetings.
When that day comes, I think I'll give up. I'll just GIVE UP.
I'll tell people I come from a samurai family, and that I've lost 3 brothers from "harakiri" because they failed exams in high school and did not want to disgrace the family name. "It's a sad story, I know, but my parents were proud they made the right choice." I'll tell them I wear silky red kimonos with dragon embroidery to school "it's what Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Girls wear!" I'll tell them I eat sushi for breakfast with soy sauce flavor soda. Mmmmm a true Japanese delicacy. I will also lie that my name means "lotus kitten of the heavenly gods" and that name was given to me because I was originally raised to become a Geisha... In childhood, I had daily classes of dance, singing, playing the shamisen, and pleasing men... ofcourse, I was taught English to please foreign men and talk politics. "I was the lucky one." Then, when they ask me to make up a Kanji to spell their name (which is close to impossible when your name is something like Klankhammerijkenstockowallawallabingbang) I will write "I didn't know what to get" and convince them to get it tattooed on their back like a real yakuza would. When I'm done telling them my story, I will excuse myself to go pray to my Ancestors for forgiveness for telling a foreigner the truth about Japan. But ofcourse, I wouldn't leave without being very polite, bowing and saying "hai! Domo Arigato, Mister Robotto!"

Summah, of Oh Seven!
So after graduation, I went home to Japan and I...

visited Saori in Kobe.

Then she came to visit me in Tokyo/Yokohama. This is at the Asakusa Shrine. She pulled an "omikuji" which gives you your fortune.... but you have to wrap the piece of paper around a tree. And the set of gold "kozuchi" keychains (sort of like hammers?) if you look carefully, I'm reflected in them thangsss!! (I must say, I'm proud of these two pics, hehe *blushes*)

We went to Disney SEA! A first for me and Saori. We all got our Minnie Mouse years... and 3D glasses... CLASSIC!

And then off to SPAAAIN it was! Since my brother and I are both Formula-1 fans... or more like Alonso fans (biased, I know) we wanted to check out the F-1 practice held at the Jerez circuit! Unfortunately we didn't see Alonso drive :( but we saw the ENEMY! LEWIS HAMILTON!!

GARRRRRR~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ you shall not win!

This is my Dad and two (of his three) sisters. He's the only boy.
I LOOVE how this picture came out. They're all smiles :) Smiles are contagious, and this one makes me smile too :)

Simon was taking flamenco guitar lessons from this guy in the pic (one holding guitar, duh) and he let us watch them practicing a flamenco and poetry reading performance. It was so intense and moving! She was really good, the guitar was superb, the singing was excellent, and I understood very little of the poetry, but it was all so nice.

Then off to Barcelona~~ (with this background, it's quite obvious, me thinks!)
(and since my camera and I are BOTH in the pic, I have to say, my dad took this one :) It was my first time in Barcelona, and I loved it with all my heart. I loved every inch of this city. The architecture, the organization... everything. From the big stuff to the Cathedrals, to the tiny stuff like lamp posts and floor tiles- everything was ART!

My aunt, cousin, dad and bro in front of the Sagrada Familia.

And last but DEFINITELY not least (there ain't no such thing as "least" in my travel photos) This guy was a performer at the Gran Via! There were dancers, live statues, all sorts of stuff.... but this guy! ohhhhh this guy! He was good! He was Ronaldino, the Brazilian soccer player in FC Barcelona! He was making GOOD MONEY cuz evvvveryone wanted a picture with him! haha

My Research at coconut Island!!
Is about the development of whistle communication in a captive bottlenose dolphin mother-calf pair.... Yah, won't go into the science of it all, but just look at the pics you've been waiting for of the baby dolphin!

That's BJ, the mom. (you can see the baby behind her, a bit. Darker grey.)

BJ and the baby. He's coming up for air. They don't name the baby on purpose until it's a year old. Baby dolphins have a 50% chance of surviving the first year, whether in the wild or in captivity. So they name it only after it's survived a year (probably to prevent everyone from getting too attached.... although that's impossible. How can you NOT be attached to this?!) Either way, I think everyone has their own name for him (oh yeah, we think it's a he). My name for him is Bono. Dad's name is Boris, so you gotta keep the "B" tradition going, don't you think?

Here's baby and mommy BJ. BJ's definitely looking my way ("got food or what?"), and baby's trying to keep up with mommy!
Anyway, I still can't believe my luck! I am loving every minute of my project here :)
This is what I wanna do with my life.
