Tastes of Taipei, Taiwan '06

This is gonna be more like a food blog... Cuz I documented most of the food I ate! hehehe :P
But Taiwan was OH SO DELICIOUSSSSS... yumm yumm yummy!

Maybe it just matches my Japanese taste-buds, but, OMG, you would not BELIEVE how tasty everything was. I drool just thinking about it.... *drools*

Anyway, I'll begin with some of the sight seeing we did...

Peace Memorial Park in Taipei...

Since I also saw the hiroshima poster in Italy, it felt like everywhere I went, ppl want peace. It's true. Everyone wants world peace... not just beauty queens.

There were bikes everywhere!

SHOOOOESSS!! ...a girls heaven.

I was surprised I could read (as in, slightly decode) Taiwanese menus! like "hmm... that says, chicken-noodle-soup... that one says chicken-rice... and that one beef-noodle-soup... booyah"

We went to a city called Tam-shui, where apparently, the Spanish colonized. There was even a "Fort Antonio" (my dad's name) The city was right by the beach and the sunset was so colorful! How many places do you know where you see this many colors in one sunset? CRAZY BEAUTIFUL, and not like the movie with Kirsten Dunst.

Not to forget the night market... They sold so many fun souvenirs! The crowd was intense!

So I guess I already have to begin my FOOD journal here cuz there were too many interesting eats! mmm~mm~mm~~~~
The first night there, we roamed around looking for an interesting place to eat, and we found this self-service place, so we tried it out... and this is the yummy plate I got... (took a bit of everything between the five of us!)

Another indoors night market, but just for food. We unfortunately went AFTER dinner (boo) and so I couldn't try everything :( (booooo!) Otherwise I would've had a piece of everything!

But i DID manage to squeeze in a really cool drink that also had little pieces of jello :)

and it came in a cup that said:

FROG EGGS!! hahaha!! For a second I thought "did I order tapioca?" but nope.
No frog eggs OR tapioca. I'm not sure why it said frog egs, but, still, interesting and delish.

speaking of yummy drinks, bubble tea was YUMYUMYUMMIES. and cheap too! we had tons of it.

Some random food vendors that I wanted to try, but couldn't!

Oh but the yummiest yummiest YUMMIEST restaurant was this place called "Tin Tin Fan"
Famous for their dim-sum... and it was WORTH IT. They were so juicy! and by juicy, I mean soupy! each little dim-sum (小龍包) had so much soup in it, it was heaven. We ate more than ten each... (plus some other stuff too, like sweet and sour soup, fried rice, and mochi-rice wrapped in bamboo leaves... all very VERY delicious too.) you HAVE TO go. you MUST.
You will thank me later. I promise you. I guarantee your satisfaction. I just want to share this with you!

Some strange eats:

I'm not sure, but I think they were either snails or little hermit crabs! Reminded me of when I tried little bugs in Korea!! Feeling very Simba singing "hakuna matata!" hehehe. I would've tried, but I was too full by then!

And the strangest MENU on this planet goes too~~ *drum rolls*
CAFE IN TAM SHUI!

"Uhh yeah, we'd like an Explodes the seafood volume (extra exploded) and Beef lazamia. Yes yes... and two Spicy Burfflewingoes. Can we have that extra spicy please? Oh, and can we please get 4 germ milk teas too? Thank you!"
(I'm guessing they meant "buffalo wings"???)

I LOVED IT!
I am so coming again, fo sho. No way I can resist the temptation of the DELICIOUS food waiting for me to come eat them! you just wait, Taiwan, you just wait!
